Congratulations to Richa Mehra on her well-deserved promotion to Vice President in the Account Management and Marketing Strategies department (Gurugram)!
The month of May has been all about focusing on the well-being of AGLites. Globally recognised as Mental Health Awareness Month, it was a powerful reminder that our mental health is just as crucial as our physical health. At AGL, we firmly believe that a thriving workforce is built on a foundation of holistic well-being. We took significant strides in reinforcing this commitment.
In today's fast-paced world, the demands of work and personal life can often lead to increased stress and, at times, burnout. So, we must equip ourselves with the tools and awareness to navigate these challenges effectively.
Wellness Tips for a Balanced Life
True wellness is only possible if our physical and mental health are taken care of. The scorching heat is making all of us dehydrated and drained. So, we encourage AGLites to integrate some key wellness practices: -
- Mindfulness: Even a few minutes of mindfulness or meditation can significantly reduce stress. Several wellness apps and online resources are available to guide you.
- Stay Connected: Nurture your relationships with colleagues, friends, and family. Social connection is a powerful antidote to feelings of isolation.
- Move Your Body: Regular physical activity, even a short walk, can boost your mood and energy levels.
- Prioritise Sleep: Adequate sleep is fundamental for both physical and mental restoration. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.
- Seek Support: Remember, it's a sign of strength, not weakness, to reach out if you're struggling. AGL offers resources and support channels, and we encourage you to utilise them.
May was a bustling month filled with impactful events designed to enhance our collective well-being and professional development.
A Mother's Day Special: Motherhood Meets Ambition
In celebration of Mother's Day, we hosted a truly empowering session called "Motherhood Meets Ambition."
This heartfelt seminar featured renowned psychologist and founder of Inner Peace Cove, Mrs. Jannat Thapar. It served as a vital platform for discussions around balancing motherhood, career, and personal well-being. Topics included "The Myth of 'Having It All'," "Invisible Emotional Load," "Understanding Mom Guilt," "When Identity Shifts: Redefining Yourself," "Beyond Motherhood and Career Titles," "The Silent Burnout of the 'Default Parent'," "Supermom Syndrome," and "The Cost of No Pause." The insights shared were invaluable, sparking meaningful conversations and offering practical strategies for managing the unique challenges faced by working mothers.
Bookshala: A Haven for Readers
May also saw the flourishing of Bookshala, our book club initiative on the Enviro app. Bookshala is a wonderful avenue for AGLites to connect, share their love for reading, and discuss a diverse range of literary works. It is a fantastic opportunity for social interaction and stress relief, fostering a sense of community within AGL. Keep an eye out for details on our next Bookshala post!
PoSH Training Session: Upholding a Safe and Respectful Workplace
A pivotal event this month was AGL’s first paid PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) training session. It was expertly conducted by our ICC External PoSH member, Mrs. Mala Thapar, an accomplished Author, Consultant, and Master Trainer with over 25 years of experience and the CEO and Founder of Independent Minds LLP. Having trained more than 30,000 individuals and authored two widely acclaimed books on PoSH and POCSO, her expertise is unparalleled. The session was incredibly engaging, ensuring that every participant gained a deep understanding of PoSH policies and received a certificate of participation. Ms. Thapar’s interactive quizzes, complete with chocolates and gifts for correct answers, made the learning experience both informative and enjoyable.
As we move forward, let's carry the momentum from May into every aspect of our work and lives. Remember, prioritising your well-being is a necessity. It is vital to support one another in creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered.
